Being an active member of a service club means participating in some of the many activities that the club offer so that the children will benefit from us. Below are some of the activities that we have established in the past. Please choose at least two that you would like to participate in for the year.
Junior Optimist Octagon International - teens learn skills such as teamwork, communication , self-esteem, and leadership. Start a JOOI Club today. Childhood Cancer Campaign - members provide support for children with cancer and their families. We will create activities to raise funds for the cause. Youth Appreciation Week - honoring local youth by hosting, crazy bowls, lock-ins, and provide school supplies. Trying to make a difference in a child’s life. Oratorical Contest - a contest that allows young adults to gain experience in public speaking. Christmas for Needy Families - making the holidays brighter for less fortunate. Festival of the Little Hills - Sell brats, chip beef and soda during the festival. 4H County Fair - assist at a booth during the county fair. Optimist Junior Golf Program - assist with hosting young golfers to compete around the globe in various tournaments. Respect for Law Week - acknowledge ourpolice officers and fireman for their efforts to protect the community. Spelling Bee- assist in the running of a spelling contest in the area schools. High School Scholarship Program - help with the selection process of selecting senior students from area high schools to receive scholarships to universities. Optimist Bar-B-Ques - work in booth selling brats, soda and snacks to raise money for the youth of St. Charles. Optimist Golf Tournament- participate in or assist with the running of a golf tournament to raise funds for the club. Fishing Derby- volunteer to help the handicapped enjoy a half day of fishing. Youth in Government - provide an opportunity for the youth to experience how the government works by following the government officials around for a day. Spaghetti Dinner - serve a dinner to the community to raise funds for the club. Bell Ringer - for the Salvation Armyon Fridays. CommunityGarden - raise food for the needy on land designated for the Optimist. Membership Committee - Committee responsibilities are being finalized.
